Summary
The Tabulator provides the critical service of tabulating vote totals for each contest in a jurisdiction in an election as well as generating audit, reporting and logging summaries. The Tabulator operates on files containing election results. The files may be generated by precinct or central scan devices, but also from other tabulators, as election results are rolled up.
It verifies in several ways, may combine them, may generate data for reporting and auditing. While the Tabulator is built as one of the various devices, the underlying algorithms are delivered in the form of a command line program with certain inputs and outputs.
